Sina Weibo gave me the coveted “Verified Account Status” by recognizing me as a “HSR expert”. That was it. I could no longer wean myself away from the rails. It was high time I stuck to the rails — and thank god for that. I clearly remember the summer 2009 horror story at Shanghai Pudong Airport, when a two-hour flight became a nine-hour nightmare.
Just so that fellow train riders are fed their fresh dose of information — and to please a converted rail wife (she became so influenced by me that now the new family travels almost exclusively by rail inside China) — I’m making all my trips as of July 2011 public.
How did I get onto the rails like this — so sick and mad? Leave it to the Swiss Federal Railways’ GA Travelcard (previously known as the “General Season Ticket”). Two years of that in first class basically bound me to the rails. It was a case of hop onto the next train going anywhere. A bit like the Beijing Subway or Shanghai Metro, but with much better trains and neater still service.
Despite the terrible Wenzhou tragedy closer to home (here in China), I’m not getting off the rails any time soon. The reason is simple, and very Swiss: as a Swiss citizen, we the Swiss travel the most by rail (especially when it comes to the mileage). So the odds of getting me off the tracks are just about close to zero.

個人將這些最近旅途一一列出來不僅是為了滿足鐵路迷們的資訊需求或是讓自己的老婆高興,也是為了記錄一段段歷史。我將先把 2011 年 7 月 1 日以來的所有旅途記錄下來,然後再追回到 2008 年有記錄以來的所有旅程。
為什麼我如此鍾愛甚至於「中毒」鐵路呢? 因為我從 1998 秋天到 2000 年晚夏,曾經是一名瑞士「GA 卡」全國鐵路列車通票的持票人。手中有了它,你可以隨便亂坐瑞士絕大部分列車,跟著瞎坐北京地鐵或上海地鐵一樣,但是列車質量和服務質量要好的多。
雖然出現過溫州動車撞車事故,但是對於我來說,我不會離開鐵路的;原因非常簡單,作為瑞士公民,我們瑞士人是世界上出名的名副其實的鐵路迷。按照數據,瑞士人在尤其是年度旅途里程方面是世界第一。只要一個地方有一條鐵軌,那我畢竟將會坐在運行在這條鐵軌的列車上的。試問:這位瑞士旅客還會下車嗎?
